Below you can find a list of all programmable audio platforms compiled by me over last few years. The purpose is to compare different features of each platform (especially I/O connectivity: audio, MIDI and CV) without the need to jump from one specs page to another. My original idea was to include only open source platforms programmable in Pure Data and focus on DIY, but with time I went further.
Latest update 1 July 2024
Asterisk symbol (*) can indicates what follows:
- Audio I/O sockets works interchangeably as CV I/O
- CV I/O count includes trigger only I/O
I gain no financial benefits from including anything on the above list. Feel free to inform me if there are any errors/changes or if there is another platform that should be included.

Super useful collection, thanks! I am looking into another option: https://detroitunderground.net/modular/du-ino/. If it makes sense, please add this to the list as well.

From what I understand it is more of a programmable voltage generator rather than an audio platform.

Nebulae V2 can also be used as usb Midi Host. Since it runs arch Linux you can easily add a universal aconnect at boot time (or in Python scripts). There are 2 USB ports accessible (if needed, move the USB connector to another port).

Yes, it is possible after some code modifications, but not out of the box – this could probably also apply to a number of the platforms on my list 🙂

great list – thanks!
would be even better if you included the CPU used, so one gets a better idea about the processing power available
